She married Jonah Austin, son of Jonas "Jonah" Austin and Constance (_____). He was born Bef 28 Feb 1629/30 in Tenterden, Kent, England, was christened 28 Feb 1629/30 in Tenterden, Kent, England, and died 10 May 1676 in Taunton, Massachusetts.

She married John GRAY 1676. He was born in of Norton,MA.

• + 2 i. *Jonah Austin was born 17 Aug 1667 in Taunton, Massachusetts, and died Abt 1755.
• 3 ii. Esther Austin was born 03 Jan 1661/62 in Taunton, Massachusetts. She married Anthony Newland 06 Dec 1682, son of Jeremiah Newland.
• 4 iii. Mary Austin was born 12 May 1663.
• 5 iv. Sarah Austin was born 04 Nov 1665.
• 6 v. John Austin was born 01 Jul 1671, and died Aft 1756

Origins unknown

• ”Some older sources and online databases claim that Jonah married to Esther Read, the daughter of William Read and Susanna Hayme. However, this has been proven to be incorrect. According to Robert Charles Anderson in his Great Migration Series, that Esther married John McCann.”
• Torrey’s New England Marriages before 1700: “Austin, Jonah2 /Jonas? (-1676) & [Esther] _____; by 1662; Taunton {Reg. 16:327, 67:166; Godfrey (ms); White (,3) 15; MD 18:168 has Allen; MD 21:56; TAG 28:252}”
• Esther Reed is not listed in Chamberlain's History of Weymouth Families as a child of William and Avis (Chepman) Reed.
• Finally, John Ludovicus Reed repeated the error of Jacob Whittemore Reed by attributing an extra child, Esther, to William and Avis (see p. 5).Per Chamberlain (op. cit., pp. 565-6) Esther was born at Weymouth on 08 May 1641 to the FIRST immigrant William READE and his wife Susan (or Susanna) Hayme.
• If she was a daughter of Avis Chapman & William Read, she was born in England.
• Austin (1973) gives her as Esther, dau of William and Avis (Deacon)Reade of Weymouth, Mass., b. 8 May 1641. Birth: 8 MAY 1641 in of Dighton,,MA
• Jonah Austin .... mar. Esther .... she m. secondly John Gray of Norton. He was a life long resident of Taunton and an originalproprietor of the Taunton South Purchase". Whether this last statementrefers to John Gray or Jonah Austin is not clear at this time.
