Eliza was advised by the DAR that her application for membership had been accepted on April 12, 1924 with Nat. No. 198548. With the document was a letter detailing the lineage back to Samuel Safford who married Mary Lawrence. The letter was written on stationery from 831 Prospect Ave, Hartford, Conn. and it is not certain who the parties were other than the addressee as Etta and appears to be in Jany 1924.
Esther E 79 and widowed lived in Vernon and her widowed daughter-in-law Rena C Pettibone 50 lived with her. Next door were Charles M and Harriot P Youngs (1940 Vernon, Oneida, New York; Roll: T627_2702; Page: 7B; Enumeration District: 33-93).

Five) Vernon Center Mrs Pettibone Succumbs at 89 Word was received here Sunday of the death of Mrs. Hawley Pettibone which occurred Saturday evening in a hospital in Riverton, N.J. where she had been confined since a fall in May, when she fractured a hip.
Esther Eliza Loomis was born in Hartford, Conn., March 11, 1861, and was therefore nearly 90 years of age. She was a daughter of the late Burdett and Lucretia Loomis. Her gracious manner endeared her to a large circle of friends and for 25 years she was the beloved president of the Board of Managers of Maple Park Home for Aged Ladies. Her marriage to Mr. Pettibone, a consulting engineer with offices in New York City, took place in 1886. He died in 1933. After their marriage, their home for a time was Bridgeport, Conn, and then in New Rochelle. They returned to his boyhood home, the Pettibone Farm, in 1913. Of late years, Mrs. Pettibone and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Loomis Pettibone, who resided with her, had spent winters in St. Petersburg, Fla., and she was enroute home last year at the time of the accident. She was a member of the Fort Schuyler Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Utica, and of the Presbyterian Church of this village. The survivors include one daugher, Mrs. R. K. Haughton, Riverton, N.J., and one son, Joseph Hawley Pettibone, Merritt, Fla.; also two granddaughters, Mrs. Willis Sargent, Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Donald W. Goode, Manlius, and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Charles F. Youngs is a sister-in-law. Mrs. Loomis Pettibone who is spending the winter with her daughter in Manlius, has left to attend the funeral and burial will be in the family plot in the Bronson Cemetery in the Spring.
