Esther was the ninth and last child of John Houston who was one of the original 1735 immigrants. She and her sisters, Alice and Margaret played an important part in the Presbyterian Church history of Tennessee.
Esther and Joel Wallace were married at Craig's Fort on the site of the present town of Maryville, Tenn.
The burial spot for Esther Houston was located directly behind the house and at this time was called Wallace Cemetery in a family plot on a little hill just back of the house above the big Seneca Springs about 3/4 mile south of Trinity, Morgan County, Alabama. (From Morgan County, Alabama Records Volume 105) The gravestone for them marked tone maker - JL their location in the Old Wallace burial ground since renamed to Lile cemetery is T5S R5w Sec 19. Joel was 80 years and 9 days old when he died; Rebecca was only 51 and Esther was 60.
