Ethel Jones

Gladys was born out of wedlock September 20, 1911 , but Ethel married the father Charles Edward Stone during his final leave in September 2015 before he left for war in October 1915. Sadly he was killed in military action less than a year later, August 26, 1916 (24) in Pozières, Somme, Picardy, France.

Ethel later worked in Erica pub as a cook/chef, as a war widow with no pension, she had to find work. There she met Ernest Leslie Jones, who was MGR of Purvis Stores in "Brown Coal Mine" (actual name of town at that time, later became Yallourn North )

After her marriage to Ernest Jones in June 1926 , they adopted 2 daughters Iris Patricia Elizabeth Jones, Carol Lesley Jones.
