Ethel married Barnum Rupert London Sr. July 30, 1926. We were always told that she was a "mail order bride". At the time of their marriage, Ethel had a four and a half year old daughter, Francis Lenore (1922). To this union was born: Barnum Rupert Jr. (1927), Jack (1929), Earl Leon (1932), and Edna Mae (1934).
The family lived in the Sunny Slope area east of Ralston, Oklahoma, and for a time in the Brushy Mt. area north of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. At times the family would travel by foot or hopping on trains to New Mexico or Arizona to find work but always returned to the Fairfax and Ralston, Oklahoma, area.
Ethel loved to fish and hunt squirrels and could shoot better than most men. Many a day you would see her heading to the creek in the early mornings with her fishing pole and carrying a stringer of fish on her return.
At the time of her death she had nine grandchildren: Denzil R. Roberts; Judy K., Sherry L., Jackie E., and Desiree D. London; Earl Wayne, Brenda Sue, and Jack David London; and Delvin Lee Simmons Jr. A tenth grandchild, Darla Jo Simmons was born after her death.
