Eunice Bryson Hensley, 78, of Cullowhee, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center in Asheville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in the chapel of Melton-Riddle Funeral Home. The Rev. Verlin Bryson officiated.

A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Bascom Bryson and Ollie Gunter Bryson. She was a member of the 1942 graduating class of McKee School in Cullowhee.

She was employed by Ecusta Corp., Burlington Hosiery Mills, Skyland Textile and she retired from the Western Carolina University Book and Supply Store in Cullowhee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Julia Bumgarner; and an infant brother.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Ransom Sterling Hensley; two daughters, Karen Hensley Monteith of Sylva and Gayle R. Boyd of Martin, Tenn.; one son, L.Z. Hensley of Mount Vernon, Ind.; three sisters, Virgie Watson of Eugene, Ore., Mary Jean Gibson of Candler and Reva Clark of Hazelwood; five brothers, Hubert Bryson of Brevard, Bart Bryson of Hendersonville, Darrell Bryson of Sylva, Verlin Bryson of Cullowhee and George Bryson of Murphy; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
