About Eunice (Cole) [Roberts] Maverick
Roberts Researches should examine closely Thomas Roberts of Marblehead who is almost certainly the same as Thomas Robert of Boston who arrived by 1637 as servant mentioned in the Winthrop Papers page 3:445. He married first to Eunice. She married second to Moese Maverick of Marblehead. Authors have conflated the spouses and children of Robert Roberts with those of Thomas Roberts of Ipswich. For example Savage's work on the Roberts family should be totally ignored. Savage has Robert married to Eunice. This is in error as the records of the First Church of Boston (courtesy Bruce Roberts) have Eunice as the wife of Thomas. Torrey's New England Marriages Prior to 1700 (p. 628) also has Thomas Roberts married to Eunice Cole. Essex Institute Historical Collections 269 shows that Elizabeth (Roberts) Turner wife of John Turner and later Charles Redford of Salem was in fact daughter of Thomas Roberts of Boston/Marblehead bp 11:4:1648 in Boston. See Founders of Marblehead for more about this family group.
Regarding Eunice see: History of Salem p 236
