About Eunice Dorothy Cargo

Finnish by birth, a child of God for eternity…
Eunice Dorothy Cargo. Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandma, and friend. A wife, now reunited for all eternity with the man she cherished, esteemed, empowered and adored. A man that she honored with her grit and tenderness.

Eunice lived 95 years. And she lived them well. Right down to her dying breath.

Born, Eunice Dorothy Jankila, the daughter of Finnish immigrants, in Calumet, Michigan. She journeyed through life in lockstep with Donald William Cargo. Her soulmate for over sixty years. Her final 35 years with Don were lived in Brighton/Howell, Michigan, before Eunice moved to Denver, Colorado in 2015. During her life, Eunice made a lasting impact on the communities she was connected to. Loyal. Strong. Funny. Smart. Faithful and committed. These are words that echo in the memories of those who will miss her. She listened well. And loved generously.

She died with an enduring faith. She died with a resilient courage. She died with a relentless love.

The final living member of her Jankila generation, Eunice represented her family, her Finnish roots, her Lutheran faith, and her commitment to Christ with winsomeness and humility.

Her resume is now complete. Her accomplishments many. Her legacy lasting.

Eunice is survived by those she invested in deeply… Bruce Cargo and his wife Lilise. Liz Thompson and her husband, Dale. Mary Wolgemuth and her husband, Dan. Bill Cargo and his wife Deb.

She also is loved by her six grandchildren and their families… Amy & Brian Hamilton, Andrew & Chrissy Wolgemuth, Erik & Kendal Wolgemuth, Alli & Chris Horst, Delaney Cargo & Eduardo Cortez, and Tierney & Colin Mosier.

Her thirteen great-grandchildren and their families will carry on her legacy of life and love as well… Jon & Kendra Hamilton, Sam & Amanda Hamilton, Malia Wolgemuth, Davey Wolgemuth, Naomi Wolgemuth, Drew Wolgemuth, Graham Wolgemuth, Tess Wolgemuth, Rowan Wolgemuth, Desmond Horst, Abe Horst, Juni Horst and Mack Horst.

All will carry a legacy of love and life and courage and hope… rooted in her faith. Propelled by her love.
