About Euphrosyne - Graatsia Charites

In Greek mythology, Euphrosyne (Εὐφροσύνη; (English pronunciation: /juːˈfrɒzɨniː/) was one of the Charites, known in English also as the "Three Graces". Her best remembered representation in English is in Milton's poem of the active, joyful life, "L'Allegro". She is also the Goddess of Joy, a daughter of Zeus and Eurynome, and the incarnation of grace and beauty. Also known as the goddess of Mirth. The other two Charites are Thalia (Good Cheer) and Aglaea (Beauty or Splendor).

EUPHROSYNE was the goddess of good cheer, joy, mirth and merriment. She was one of the three Kharites (Graces). Her name derives from the Greek word euphrosynos "merriment". In the mosaic right she is paired with Akratos, the celebratory spirit of unmixed wine. Usually, however, she appears dancing in a circle with her triplet sisters.
