About Eva Chava Mayer
In response to a question, Daniel Zur wrote to me on Sep.5, 2011 the following:
Hello Daniel Levy, I will attempt to respond to your questions. It is true that my grandfather Viktor Mayer had submitted several testimonials to Yad Vashem including ones for Eva and her parents. Eva's parents Vilmos and Hermina (Hedy) were executed in Kremincka which is just south of Banska Bystrica, Slovakia and burried in a mass grave in 1944. There is a small memorial at that location. I have uploaded several more documents onto Eva's profile in the media section. She was deported from Kralova nad Hronom (now a suburb of Banska Bystrica) 30 March 1942 to Patronka. She was 19 years old. Apparently she escaped as there is an arrest record for her in Bratislava dated March 9, 1943. She was likely sent to Bergen Belsen at that time. The information gathered by the surviving family after the war was that she was actually liberated at the end of the war but died of Typhus and malnutrition two weeks later. I am interested to know how you are connectedto the Orovan family, I assume. Sincerely yours, Daniel Zur
