"Evangeline" Emeline Labiche

In Simeon Martin's Genealogy of the Martin Family, Emeline is said to be the adopted daughter of Antoine and Marguerite Borda. In Felix Voorhies' likely fictional work "Acadian Reminisciences", Emeline is the "Evangeline" in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem of that name. Voorhies says that in the "true story" of Evangeline, she eventually finds her long lost betrothed, but he has left her for another woman. According to Voorhies, she goes insane.
