The largest city in the county is Thomasville.
In the 1850 Census, Evan Welborn is listed as head of household, age 37, together with the following: Chloe Welborn, age 36, Alpheus H Welborn, age 14, Lindsay Welborn, age 12, Franklin A Welborn, age 10, James M Welborn, age 8, John O Welborn, age 7, Thomas J Welborn, age 6, Gaston P Welborn, age 4, Louisa J Welborn, age 2 and ? Welborn, age 0. They are all listed as being born in North Carolina and residing in Davidson County, NC.
In the 1870 Census, Evan Welborn is listed as head of household, age 58, together with his wife Chloe, age 57; Louisa, age 20; Lutitia, age 16; and Cicero, age 14.
