AN OLD RESIDENT DIES UNEXPECTABLY HERE

Mrs. Alex Racette died very unexpectably about 10:45 Monday morning at her home, just outside the city on the northeast. Mrs. Racette had been ill for a couple of weeks, but in recent days showed evidences of improving. A sudden relapse evidently occurred. She was born in Bourbonnais, Illinois, and had reached the age of 70 years, 4 months and 11 days. Coming to this community with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lagesse, when a child, her early life was spent in the St. Joe neighborhood. After her marriage she and her husband lived on a farm near Concordia for a time, coming to Clyde 27 years ago and they had lived here since. Mrs. Racette had a wide acquaintance and was well liked by all of her associates. Besides her husband, eight children survive--Alex Racette, Jr., at home; Adlor Racette, Kansas City; Snine Racette, Grand Junction, Colo.; Fred Racette, Mrs. Armand Dandurand and Edmer Racette, Wichita; Henry Racette, Clyde and Mrs. Bud Wurtz, Clifton. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Anna Hubert of Concordia, and two brothers, Arthur Lagesse of Clifton and Paul Lagesse of Portland, Oregon. Another sister, Mrs. Fred Begnoche, of this city died four weeks ago. Funeral services were held at St. John's Catholic church at 9 o'clock yesterday morning, conducted by Father Spoorenberg, and interment was made at Mt. Calvary cemetery.
