About Even Sjønnesen Grinder
Even Sjønnesen Grinder
GRINDERBYGD--GRINDER: He was a sheriff in the district, and from his time Grinder was a sheriff’s station [literal translation: sheriff’s farm] for a long time. Even’s wife was Berte Arnesdtr, and they had four sons and two daughters. Two of the sons we hear about further, and the third son was Siver (Sjur), who was marred to a widow of Rolstad in Brandval and lived there. The fourth son was Kolbjørn and he went to Øyen in Odal--he died early, but left a son, Gunnar Øyen, who was owner of 3 skinn in Grinder. Of Even Grinder’s two daughters, Guro was married to Tove Sæta, and Marte to Torkjel Kjelsen Åsnes, son of Kjel Berger in Grue. Even Grinder was a well-to-do man, who along with his own farm owned farms and farm shares in both Grue and the neighboring districts. He died about 1649, but Berte lived for many years after him.
