Farmer, Cattleman, Orchardist Everett Hale Yowell finished a long productive life in the same bedroom he was born in ninety three years ago.He was a life-long farmer, cattleman, and orchardist and loving husband and father, and beloved grandfather and great-grandfather. He continued working well into his nineties.He served his country on the homefront during World War II producing food for the troops and serving as a civil defense aircraft spotter. He also trained to be an aircraft mechanic at VPI (now VA Tech.).Invited by a sister to a dance at Mary Washington College in 1945, he there met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Longaker. They were married June 25, 1949 and remained happily married for 67 years.Everett was preceded in death by parents, A. Waverly and Mary Elizabeth Yowell; brothers, Robert (who gave his life defending our freedom in the Pacific), Joel Byrd, and Mayo; sisters, Mary Frances "Molly" Rosson and Margaret "Peggy" Eure. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sister, Betty Jane Hall;brother, John Albon "Jack" Yowell;sons and daughters-in-laws, Albert (Patty), Jim, Glenn (Donna), Kenneth (Donna), Dan, and Ralph (Karen); 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.He was a lifelong member and Deacon at F. T. Baptist Church. He served as a poll worker at the Etlan voting precinct for 60 years. He was an avid gardener and blueberry grower and enjoyed trout fishing for many years.A funeral service was held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison conducted by Dan Yowell and Doug Farmer. The interment was in Etlan Cemetery. Familyreceived friends one hour before the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to F. T. Baptist Church, P.O.
