He married about 1730 Magdalena/Eleanor "Lena" Cuddeback born about 1712 Kingston, Ulster Co., NY. Lena was one of nine children of Jaques "Jacob" Caudebec and Margaret Provoost. The surname could also have been spelled Cottebek or Codebec.

They were the parents of Joseph; Margaret; Evert; Jacobus "James"; Maria; Elizabeth; Eleanor "Lena"; Lydia; Benjamin; Abraham (possible child). 

Evert left a will probated Aug 27, 1754 Sussex or Morris Co., NJ. In the Archives of New Jersey 1754, Evert Hornbeck, blacksmith of Sussex Co., yeoman, Lenah, widow, resigns her right of administration to their son Jacobus.
