About Fayette Bryon Baldwin
Fayette Byron "Fay" Baldwin, son of Byron Baldwin and Clarissa Louise Van Patten, was born Jan. 24, 1888 in Symco, Waupaca Co., Wisconsin. He died Oct. 22, 1907 in Tacoma, Pierce Co., Washington. Unm.
OBIT, Oct. 1907: Fayette B. Baldwin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Baldwin of Symco, was born in the town of Union, Jan. 24, 1888, and died in Tacoma, Wash., Oct. 22, 1907.
On May 31, 1907, he, together with his parents and brothers, went to Montana to live. His parents, last Spring, decided to return to Wisconsin, and left Fay with his brother Ezra on the property they owned at Missoula, Montana. On Oct. 3, he decided to go to Oregon, to see the county, in company with Mr. Norton, a relative. While on the way he was taken sick and had to stop off at Tacoma, where it was learned that he was afflicted with appendicitis. He was taken to the hospital where an operation was performed but all to no avail. In spite of the nest that medical science could do he yielded to the power of this fread affliction. His body was sent home for burial. The funeral was held in the M.E. Church, at Symco, Friday, Rev. Tucker officiating.
Fay was a young man of promise. He early developed signs of mechanical genius. He was a young man of good habits and commanded the respect of all that knew him. This was manifest by the large number who gathered to pay their last token of regard.
A half written letter, written while his hand and mind were yet steady, and completed by his nurse, is his last expression in this world. This will ever be treasured by his friends in hope that some day he may supply the missing part in a better world.
- 1900 census: Fay (12), b. Wisc; in Union & Helvetia Twp, Waupaca Co., Wisc. w parents and sibs.
