About Federico Memmi
Federico Memmi was likely first cousin of my grandfather Dominic Memmi.
The following account was shared by Tom Memmi..."There was a cousin of Grazio, Dominic, and Shensa, whose name was Federico Memmi. I believe he was a first cousin, but was never married. He’s actually buried about 50 yards from Soretta. I also attached a photo of his grave stone. You’ll see he was born in Filetto in 1888 and died in 1918, Robertsdale. He was a victim of the Spanish Flu. He was a member of the Robertsdale Italian Band, he was a clarinet player, and his band mates probably paid for this limestone marker. It’s in Italian but the epitaph reflects his achievement as a brilliant musician. Around the Grazio Memmi home and after his death, he was referred to as Uncle Frederico, and their one daughter, Freda, was named for him."
BJ's research: While researching I found Federico's WWI registration card where he stated that he was married with a wife in Italy. In Italian archives I found a record relating to this...perhaps the death record of an infant son in 1913 and a wife named Angela Marconni?
