Fedor & his wife had two children:

1. BORIS Fedorevich Godunov (1552-13./23 Apr 1605). He dominated the reign of his brother-in-law Tsar Fedor I and took the title koniushii/master of the horse. After the death of Tsar Fedor, Boris Godunov engineered his own accession and succeeded as BORIS Tsar of all Russias 17 Feb 1598, crowned 3 Sep 1598. The dynastic uncertainty of this succession, added to existing social and other problems faced by Russia, plunged the country into the "Time of Troubles" during which the authority of the central government declined drastically. m MARIA Grigorievna, daughter of MALYUTA Skuratov-Belsky & his wife --- (-murdered Moscow 10 Jun 1605). Boris & his wife had two children:

a) FEDOR Borisovich (1589-murdered Moscow 10 Jun 1605). He succeeded his father as FEDOR III Tsar of all Russias from 13 Apr 1605 to 1 Jun 1605.

b) XENIA Borisovna Godunova (1582-1622). Her marriage was arranged by her father in an attempt to boost his international prestige when he faced mounting domestic problems, but the bridegroom died very soon after the marriage. m (1602) JOHAN Prince of Denmark, son of FREDERIK II King of Denmark & his wife Sophie von Mecklenburg (Haderslebeb 26 Jul 1583-Moscow 28 Oct 1602, bur Moscow German Church, transferred 1637 to Roskilde Cathedral).

2. IRINA Fedorovna Godunova (1557-25 Oct 1603). After the death of her husband, some consideration was given to declaring her his successor but she eventually became a nun[1101]. m (1580) FEDOR Ivanovich of Russia, son of IVAN IV "Grozhny/the Terrible" Tsar of all Russias & his first wife Anastasia Romanovna Zakharina (31 May 1557-6 Jan 1598). He succeeded his father in 1584 as FEDOR I Tsar of all Russias.
