A self-educated man who came from humble origin. He became asst. manager

of a branch of the Dresdner Bank, then founded the Trierische Privatbank,

of which he became the sole owner. The bank flourished, and a second

branch was established in Trier. He was very religous, praying three times

daily. He was also very musically inclined. He tought himself to play the

piano. When the Nazi's confiscated his bank in 1938, he moved into the

house of his son-in-law and daughter in Wiesbaden who had emigrated to the USA. He lived there until deported to the concentration camp in Theresienstadt, Czechoslovakia, where he perished along with his wife Jenny.

Death may have been in 1944.
