About Fiszko (Fischel) Stutinsky

Birth in Filiopow, Suwalki, Biyalstok Province, Poland in 1849 (Jewish Gen, JRI-P):

  • SZCZUCZYŃSKI Fiszko son of Szepszel and Basia Doba Microfilm Number 746,504

See the lovely article by Rebecca Jacobson about Sara and Fischel and their children, who are buried in Berlin: https://www.exberliner.com/features/people/finding-my-berlin-family...

All the siblings are said to have been born either in Wysoki Garb or in MIERUNSKEN (Mieruniszki) which is a small village near a lake just outside of Filipów. I know from the Margolis family, that families with means, built houses outside of the actual village (e.g., Przerosl, Chava Margolis and Josel Frankel house, outside of Przerosl on the road to Filipów).

Wysoki Garb (German: Auxkallen)[1] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Dubeninki, within Gołdap County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, close to the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia.[2] It lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) east of Dubeninki, 25 km (16 mi) east of Gołdap, and 153 km (95 mi) east of the regional capital Olsztyn.

Gmina Dubeninki is bordered by the gminas of Filipów, Gołdap, Przerośl and Wiżajny. It also borders Russia (Kaliningrad oblast).

So all the siblings were born in neighboring areas to Filipów.

The odd man out is the last one (Sidney Stuttin), who was said to have been born in Matznohrkuen, which I assume is a garble for Mierunsken. I haven't found any reference to a place called Matznohrkuen.

(ed. according to https://wiki.genealogy.net/Matznorkehmen the village is now in Poland and is called Maciejowięta )
