About Flora Elizabeth Lamborn

Our dearest mother and grandmother, Flora Elizabeth Rex Lamborn, of Randolph, Utah passed away February 12th at the age of 80. She was born April 7, 1930, in the family home on Church Street in Randolph, Utah, as the youngest daughter of Percy and Bessie Morgan Rex. She attended South Rich High School, where her favorite class was band in which she played the flute. She was also the band majorette.

She married Richard Dawson Lamborn (Rich) of Laketown, Utah, on December 8, 1948, in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their first home in Laketown, Utah, where they had their first two children and later moved to Randolph where they had three more children. Flora's greatest desire in life was to be a good wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She excelled in all of these areas therefore greatly blessing her family and all who knew her.

Flora worked in various positions in the community, including: clerical work for Utah-Wyoming Telephone Company and Randolph town clerk. She served on the Randolph town board as well as mayor of Randolph. Flora was involved in many community events, including: Rich County Fair, 4-H, Mosquito Daze, Rich Education Foundation, American Legion, restoration of the Wilford Woodruff house, and Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, some of which were: primary teacher, primary presidency, primary stake board, and president of the Mutual Improvement Association. Relief Society callings included teacher, counselor, and as the first Stake Relief Society President of the Kemmerer, Wyoming Stake. Flora served a full-time mission in 1986 in the Tempe Arizona mission. Upon returning she was called as a Gospel Doctrine teacher, and served as a temple ordinance worker in the Ogden, Utah, Temple from 1999-2005. At the time of her death she was serving as Ward Music Coordinator. She was also a lifelong member of the Randolph Ward choir.

In 1977 she and her husband purchased the Rich County "Furniture" Store, renaming it the Rich County Store. They managed the store together until Rich's passing on April 29,1982. Flora continued to manage the store until October of 1995. Flora served the citizens of the community by providing them with groceries, hardware, and dry goods, a friendly smile, a listening ear, and wise counsel. Many members of the community were employed at the store and became close lifelong friends of the family.

She is survived by her sister, Winnie Andrus; sister-in-law, Elaine Webb; her five children, Geraldine and Gary Morse; Flora Lee and Bob Wall; Richard Lamborn; Stanley and Terri Lamborn; and Nancy and Tom Bryant; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
