Darell’s second marriage, to Archbishop Chichele’s niece, brought him by her uncle’s settlement in 1418 the archbishop’s occasional residence at Scotney castle, together with a later grant to him and Florence of a 99-year lease on a mill in Northfleet and another tenancy of land in Charing.5
