A History of the Jews in South Africa by Louis Herrman and Saron and Hotz's The Jews in South Africa: A History briefly list Frans Michiel Kilian and Florentina Mozes (Moses) among a group of early South African settlers whose names are suggestive of Jewish origin. She is listed as originating in the Netherlands along with two other women with the same family name. One of whom Eva Mozes plus her two children, requested passage to return to the Netherlands in 1767.
