About Floyd Clement Johnson
From "Eulogy to Our Brother," 1994:
Our brother, Floyd, fraternal twin to Lloyd... a quiet little boy with a shy kind of smile and gentle ways.
Virginia, being the eldest girl of the family, remembers when Floyd was born and of being disappointed that the babies were not girls. Girls would have evened the children in the Johnson family to five girls and five boys. Since she was fourteen years old, she was permitted to help with the babies' care -- bottles, rocking, etc. Whenever she was not in school.
Floyd was four years old when she went away to school so memories of his early years were limited to vacation time.
The family was proud at his high school graduation time. Next came his Air Force service and his year in Korea.
After returning from Korea, he followed brother Bill to Chicago for two years of specialized schooling.
Marriage and raising families followed for all of the brothers and sisters but it was always an event when all could be together at our parents' home. After the death of our parents, the family gatherings continued to be an "event."
We all will remember him as a loving husband to Judy, a caring and conscientious father to Steven and Nathan and the proudest of grandfathers.
Our brother, Floyd, was always conscious of the importance of family - and always present with love, humor and a helping hand.
We will remember Floyd, as a very sweet man -- but gone much too soon.
He is greatly missed by all.
