About Joseph Raymond Johnson
Drowned in the Tuscarawas River at just 9 years old just after 2 p.m. on June 16, 1936. This was a year before his older brother, Carl, would drown in Stillwater Creek, and three years before another older brother, Charles, would after a diving accident in the Tuscarawas River.
At the time of Joe's death, the family is living at 223 2nd St. SE in New Phila.
Died of accidental drowning about 2:30 p.m. in the Tuscarawas River in New Philadelphia. He was 9. His brother Carl would drown 1 year later in Stillwater Creek, and their brother, Charles Jr. two years after that in a diving accident.
