FLOYD B. VAN DELLEN - Services for Floyd Van Dellen, age 84, of Fulton were held today (Wednesday, November 3 at 103:30 a.m. at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Rev. Phillip Sneller, Pastor of the First Reformed Church and Chaplain of the Fulton Police Department officiated. Burial was in the Fulton Cemetery with graveside military honors. Casketbearers were Justin Van dellen, Jared Van Dellen, Kurt Van Dellen, David Naftzger, Ryan Marcum, Matt Marcu, Tyler Geerts and Tatum Geerts. Honorary casketbearers were Bradley Tegeler. Organist was marguerite Clark who played "In the Garden", Old Rugged Cross" and "Wind Beneath my Wings" was sung by Deb Geerts and Amanda Medema.

He was born March 11, 1920 in Fulton, the son of Elmer and Elizabeth (Ottens) Van Dellen. He was educated in the Fulton grade schools and was a graduate of Fulton High. On July 2, 1941 he married Jenouise Van Dyke in Fulton, and later married Dorothy L. Marcum on August 18, 1961 in Clinton. He served in the US Marines during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 402, the WHiteside County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol, the Fulton Saddle Club, the IL State Stock Horse Assoc., was a member andpast fire chief of the Fulton Fire Dept., was a trustee of the Fulton Fire Protection Dist. and he enjoyed horses and trail riding. He owned and operated Van Dellen Greenhouses in Fulton and was later employed as a patrolman by the Fulton Police Dept., he was a deputy with the Whiteside Co Sheriff's Dept. and also drove school bus for the FUlton School District. He retired from the Sheriff's Dept in 1985. Folowing etirement he was employed by Potter's Greenhouse in Clinton Iowa.

He is survived by two daughters Karen (Paul) Naftzger of Albany and Marcia (Pete) Feller of Fulto; two sons, Boyd (Phyllis St. Ores) Van Dellen of Fulton and Michael Van Dellen of Fulton, 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie (Fred) Pell of Morrison and Isabelle (Herbert) Benson of Morrison and special friends Leo, Deb, Tyler and Tatum Geerts.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Nov 15 2020, 21:02:27 UTC
