Iver Hansen Wolf
Iver Hanssen Wolf ( Wulff ) was born in Nakskov, Denmark, 1628. He was married in Nakskov or in Haderselv around 1660. He died in 1690 while living in Ervik in Trondenes, Norway. Iver Wolff was the son of fogd and customs cashier Hans Wolff in Nakskov. Iver Wolff was appointed fogd over Senjen by king Fredrik III shortly after 1660. After some strife with the widow of the last fogd, Mathias T. Holst, he moved to Ervik in Norway which had been the fogds official residence as far back as man could remember. This happened arround 1662-63. In 1666, Wolff became the ombudsman for Joakim Irgens when he took over the crowns goods in the Nordlands, the so called Irgin's goods, while he continued to be the king's fogd in Senjen. Then it was discovered that inconsistencies existed in the accounts, and in 1669 he was suspended as fogd, but "stillet til Kongens nåde" (put under the King's mercy). After five years, he got his job as fogd back. This happened on 10 July 1674. Irgens was now dead. Wolff "forpakted" the income of the Irvin goods for 4 years to the widow Cornelia Bichers. That will say, he paid her a sum certain and he in turn would keep the income from the operation of the farms and businesses. On this agreement, however, he lost circa 100 rdlr per year because of fishing that failed and poor corn crops attributed to frost and cold weather. Iver Hansen died, while still a fogd, in 1690, as a poor man. When the estate was probated there was a deficit of 285 rdlr that his two sons in law were held responsible for.
