Ils eurent 13 enfants:

   * Marie-Ursule, née en 1658;

* Marguerite, née en 1660;
* Charles, né en 1661;
* Louise, née en 1664;
* François, né en 1665;
* Jacques, né en 1667;
* Geneviève, née 1669;
* Marie-Madeleine, née vers 1671;
* Louis, né en 1673;
* Catherine, née en 1677;
* Jean, né en 1679;
* Alexis, né en 1681;
* Pierre né en 1685.

Jean Gariépy was the son of François Gariépy and Marie Odin. The latter were married on August 13, 1657 in Québec City, Québec, CANADA. Marguerite Bonet was the daughter of Mélaine (or Nallen) Bonnet and Marie Buisson.

Their son Jean married Marie-Anne Lecours on January 21, 1743, in Lachenaie, Québec, CANADA. (my branch is from these 2)

Dear Maurice :

I looked into the registry of St. Paul de Joliette regarding your question. There was NO such entry concerning your great grand-parents. Are you sure of your data?

As … I found Theophile Maillé (Mayé) and Marguerite-Angélique Gariépy (b and c May 14, 1830) being married in Montréal on October 24, 1853.

She was the daughter of Bonaventure Gariépy and Marguerite Moreau-Desrosiers, m. L’Assomption on June 18, 1827.

Her ancestors were François Gariépy and Marie Oudin, m. August 13, 1657 in Québec City.

Only one Gariépy came to Canada. François was from Montfort-en-Chalosse, near Dax in Gascony (France). He was a “maître-menuisier” (carpenter). He died in Château-Richer on April 25, 1706. Marie Oudin died between Jan. 16, 1713 and Mar. 29, 1721 in l’Ange Gardien.

Francois Gariepy left France after the 30 year war which had cause ruins and miseries in the villages and then following the insurrection movement called "La Fronde" which ended in a terrible Civil War (1650-1653) ruined the country more than at the height of the worst time of the 100 year war. Villages were burnt, there was no food and it is not surprising that a lot of French villagers preferred to risk the crossing of the ocean to establish themselves in Canada where life would be easier. Francois left Gascogne around 1656 at the beginning of April 1657 he was in Quebec.
