Mrs. Frances Darby Petrie, age 104, of 526 W. Church St, Thursday, Sept 18, 1975. No calling hours. Private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Smith-Fudge Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Lester will officiate. Burial Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent to the Association. for the Blind. Survived by son, Fred Petrie of Elmira; cousins, Mrs. Karl Soule of Rochester, Harland Wheadon of Elmira, Mrs. Paul Deede of San Diego, California. She was a member of the Blind Association and First Presbyterian Church.

Frances D. Petrie, the beloved Elmiran who died at age 104 in 1975.

We don't know who surviving cousins are, but Karl Soule, Harland Wheadon, (Her sister who died in 1940 was survived by Max Harland Wheadon, so we are assuming that Harland who survived Frances, was the son of Max, who died in 1945. These men must be sons of Grandsons of her mother's brother. The Darby's son was named H. Wheadon Darby, probably Harland. ) Harland is incorrectly read "Holland" on the 1880 census, son of Charles Franklin Wheaden.
