About Frances (Fanny) Lewis

GEDCOM Note

In 1839, she and her first husband Maxon Hall were apparently in Ohio, where their daughter Lucinda Hall was born. Fanny Lewis Hall subsequently became the fourth wife of Levi Bullock in 1865 in Rock County, Wisconsin.

Fanny Lewis was the sister of Palmyra Lewis, who was the second wife of Elisha W. Bartlett. Elisha and Palmyra Bartlett and their children moved from Rensselaer County, New York, to Rock County, Wisconsin, around 1868, before moving back to New York sometime before 1875.

GEDCOM Note

The 3 April 1890 edition of the Seventh Day Sabbath Recorder (Vol. 6, No. 14, page 221) carried the following obituary for Frances Lewis Hall Bullock:

BULLOCK. -- At the home of her son-in-law, Daniel Abbott, near Lima Centre [Rock County], Wisconsin, March 20, 1890, Aunt Fanny Bullock, aged 79 years, 5 months and 13 days.
Her maiden name was Frances Lewis. In early life she became a member of the Seventh-day Baptist Church at Petersburg, New York, and observed the Sabbath faithfully as long as she lived. Her first husband was Maxon Hall; they had eleven children, eight of whom are still living. About 25 years ago [in 1865], after the death of Mr. Hall, she married Levi Bullock, and was very greatly beloved by the entire family. Her last words were "I am going to a better home." She was tenderly cared for during her long illness by her son-in-law, Mr. Abbott, her own daughter and her step-children. One of the latter remarked after her decease "No better woman ever lived." Her funeral sermon was preached by the pastor of the Milton Church, and her remains interred by the side of her late husband, Mr. [Levi] Bullock.
