About Frances Maddox
http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=AHN&db...
It is unclear in the records if Frances Norgrave is the daughter, or the wife, of Capt John Norgrave...
Frances married George Mason in 1664. They had a son, William and a daughter Sarah E. After the death of George Mason, Frances married Dr Edward Maddocks in 1688. Dr Maddocks died in 1694. Frances again married in 1696 to William Wentworth Matheny. They lived near Accokeek. Mr Matheny died in 1705. Mr Matheny's will leaves some of the Accokeek property to his step-son, William Hudson.
Frances Norgrave's maiden name is not knonwn. She was born prior to 1642 and died in 1693 at Charles County, MD.
Frances Norgrave was married three times.
1st to Capt. John Norgrave (1638-1668). He died at age 31; leaving her a widow of 3 children:
1. Frances "Mary" Norgrave
2. Margaret Norgrave
3. William Norgrave
She became the last Wife of Col. George Mason. They married between 1669/1670 at Stafford County, VA and had 2 children:
1. Sarah Mason (1672-1715)
2. Frances Mason (1674-1737)
Following the death of George Mason, Frances married for the 3rd and final time to Dr. Edward Maddox.
Interestingly, it was 3rd marriages for both of them. This time, it was Dr. Maddox who was the widower. This source did not indicate any children by this marriage.
