Born: 1772 in Montgomery Co., VA Died: July 1822 in Lee Co., VA Many Napier's were already in Kentucky when Patrick arrived. At this time the Napier family had already expanded greatly. Several were in Kentucky and fought in the Revolution. (Desertion does not necessarily mean what it does in the army today. It only means they could not account for where he was. He could have been wounded and being cared for elsewhere, and it was common for a soldier to go home for some legitimate reason and return.) Napier Daniel was Pvt in Co. The theory that the name originated form "N'a pier" meaning "has no equal" is false. The kings named in the legend did not exist.
Fanny Brumfield Was the daughter of James and Mary Polly Brumfield. She was born in 1767 or 1768 in Montgomery County, Virginia, where she would marry Patrick Napier on June 9, 1788 and die in July of 1822.
