About Frances Wynne
Frances Wattmer was the daughter of William Watmoughe or Wattmore. The name of her mother is disputed. It is either Margaret Sparkes (or Parkes) or it is Joanna Hatch. No records have been found to support either name.
In c.1590/91, she married Robert Wynne, a member of the Woolendraper's Guild and mayor of Canterbury. They had seven known children.
Robert and Frances both contracted the plague and died within two days of each other on September 6 and September 8, 1609. Frances was buried on September 9 at St. George's Cathedral in Canterbury.
Her father William Wattmer took the Wynne children to a house outside the city and procured a nurse for them. It was William who raised the children after the death of both parents.
