About Francesco Badoer

Francesco Badoer, Venetian governor in Cyprus (1539–1541); Owner of the Villa Badoer, which he ordered from Andrea Palladio.

Badoer was occupied in the main judiciary of the Republic of Venice. Immediately elected senator, he was in 1552 and 1553 wise of Terraferma, the following year reformer of the Studio di Padova, in 1555 over the deeds of the overgastaldi, and in the same year still wise of terra firma, a position he held again also in 1558 and almost uninterruptedly from 1560 to 1562. In May 1561 he had been elected ambassador to Philip II, but he renounced this position, apologizing for it from the Senate.

Francesco Badoer, governatore veneziano a Cipro (1539-1541); Proprietario di Villa Badoer, che ordinò ad Andrea Palladio.

Badoer fu occupato nella magistratura principale della Repubblica di Venezia. Subito eletto senatore, fu nel 1552 e nel 1553 savio di Terraferma, l'anno successivo riformatore dello Studio di Padova, nel 1555 sopra gli atti dei sopragastaldi, e nello stesso anno ancora savio di terraferma, carica che ricoprì nuovamente anche nel 1558 e quasi ininterrottamente dal 1560 al 1562. Nel maggio 1561 era stato eletto ambasciatore a Filippo II, ma rinunciò a tale incarico, facendosene scusare dal Senato.
