About Francesco Daddi
Francesco Daddi was an Italian tenor . At the end of his career he also played bass roles.
He began studying singing and piano, then dedicating himself to the career of opera singer .
He made his debut at the Teatro dal Verme in Milan in 1891 and the following year he created Beppe in the opera Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo in the same theater in which he made his debut.
In 1900 he moved to London to sing at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, where he performed for an entire opera season.
His career was centered on supporting roles but that led him to sing in the United States , where he performed at the Manhattan Opera, the second opera house in New York , in 1907 . He sang in tenor roles of non-starring characters for several years, also performing with famous singers such as Enrico Caruso , Marcella Sembrich , Louise Homer , Marcel Journet and Antonio Scotti . He then moved to Chicago where for a decade he played comic bass roles until 1920 , when he retired from opera scenes.
He made numerous phonographic recordings for Columbia Records , especially in the first decade of the twentieth century.
