About Francis Batey
GEDCOM Note
The 1773 Baptism is a little late. If a timely baptism this would mean he was only about 17 at marriage & much younger than his wife.
Freereg also have one in 1748 at Lambley, which is a parish close to Haltwistle and one in Halton in 1777, but Halton is both too late and rather too far away.
There is an 1823 burial at Haltwistle of a Francis Batey b about 1756, which would make him 34 at marriage.
This would correspond with the baptism of Francis Beattie at Haltwistle Presbyterian church in 1755, but the difficulty is that there were 2 boys of that name baptised that year, one the son of John and Jane, the other the son of William and Jane. These are on FreeReg and Findmypast.
There is a burial of a Francis Batey at Haltwistle in 1757, which could have been either of these boys or someone else entirely. The abode is different to both baptisms.
I do not know where the 1761 proposed birth date has come from. Other trees have this date, but with no source reference.
