Descendants of this family of Frances Norman and Francis Browning married into the families of Strother, Browning, Willis, Menefee, White, Pendleton, Smith. Duncan, Tates, Bruce, Kerfoot, Lillard, and others. "Greenfield" the ancestral home, in what is now Rappahannock County, has remained for years in possession of the ascendants of Frances Norman Browning.
John Armistead Browning Jr whose mother was Mary Lewis Wills, a great-granddaughter of Betty Washington, is said to have been the last Browning to have lived there. The late Justice George L. Browning of Orange, former member of Virginia Supreme Court, is said to have been the last survivor of the Brownings who were born at "Greenfield."


Francis Browning-257 born about 1724, Spotsylvania County, Virginia, d. 19 Feb 1761, Culpeper County, Virginia - Probate (Age 37 years) [2] Francis Browning, III, (c1722- February 10, 1761 Culpeper County) Married about 1743 to Frances Norman. The lands which they owned were primarily on the Little Fork of the Rappahannock River, and on the head of Battle Run, near Flint Hill. The will of Francis was dated December 30, 1760 in Culpeper County, and recorded in Will Book A, page 242. The will of his widow, Frances Norman, was dated November 16, 1791 and probated September 17, 1792 in Will Book D, page 60.[19] Francis Browning, Jr, married Frances Norman and had 11 children. Named as a child of Francis Browning and "Miss Lloyd of Maryland" in Judge Grimsley's account. [13] Francis Browning III b: ABT 1722 in Spotsylvania County, (later Orange and Culpeper County), Virginia[23][21] Francis Jr. b 1724 m Frances Norman. Named by William Poe as a child of Francis Browning Sr and Elizabeth Lloyd of Maryland. [6]
