In addition to "Mount Sion" he owed "Belle Grove" in King George County. He engaged in numerous business activities. Taking over his father's tobacco business he brought it to its greatest era of prosperity. When he died it was at its zenith. His wife lacked his mother's business acumen and the management of the warehouses passed to the Taylor family.

In 1744 Francis Conway, II married Sarah Taliaferro (daughter of Charles Taliaferro, Jr. and Sarah Thornton).
