Biography
Francis Hamant was born in England and died at Medfield, Massachusettts, July 27, 1692. His wife was Sarah ________, who died at Medfield, September 29, 1708.[2]
Francis probably came from Melford or Lavenham, Suffolk County, England, or Sheffield, in West Riding, Yorkshire, England. Francis Hamant settled in Medfield (previously known as Dedham, Massachusetts. He was in Medfield not long before 1650, and died there July 27, 1692.[3][4] In his will dated April 20,m 1692 and proven September 1, 1692, he speaks of old age, and names his son, John, son-in-law, Jeremy Morse, and daughter Elizabeth. His wife and son Timothy were named as executors.[2]
