About Francis Hayward, Jr

"In reference to the Heywards, there is, in court, a letter of record from Francis and John Heyward, of 25 Oct 1680, to William Arnold, authorizing him to give possession of some land in Pocoson, York County, Virginia, to Francis Heyward's father - Bartholomew Ennalls." (The Ennalls Family - History of Dorchester County)

Richard Smart was a witness to the Will of Francis Hayward of Dorchester County, Maryland. Francis Hayward's Will was dated April 30, 1734. It was proved (probated) on September 17, 1735. (Liber 21, folio 454).

Francis Hayward's Will mentions his son, Thomas; his daughter, Elizabeth, the wife of Thomas Ennalls; his daughter Mary Jones; his sons John, Francis and Thomas; and his grandson Thomas, the son of his deceased son William. Sons John and Thomas were named executors. Richard Smart (II)was a witness. Elizabeth (Hayward) Smart-Ennalls would be Richard Smart II's mother. Thomas Hayward and William Hayward [who were named as administrators in the Will of Richard Smart I] would be uncles of Richard Smart II.)

(The name of Francis' wife is unknown. She apparently preceased him as she is not named in his Will) (Steve Kay)

"John Heyward (Howard) and his brother, Francis Heyward, were early residents of York county, Va. Mary, the widow of Francis Heyward, married Bartholomew Ennalls of Maryland, formerly of York county, Va. Francis and John Heyward, sons of Francis Heyward of Virginia, were living in Dorchester county, Md., in 1680. John Heyward, first named, was the ancestor of a prominent family in Virginia."
