Francis Hurt, Jr.

Francis Jr. was the eldest child of seven children born to Francis Hurt Sr. and Mary Gell. He married Elizabeth Shuttleworth. She came from Gawthorpe in Lancashire and was descended from a family whose ancestry can be traced back to King Edward I through one line and King Henry III through another. The family tree of these monarchs and Elizabeth Shuttleworth is littered with earls and knights, viscounts and baronets, as well as the 2nd and 3rd King Edwards, and John of Gaunt, who was the Duke of Lancaster, plus his brother Edmund Plantagenet, who was the Duke of York. Francis Jr. and Elizabeth had nine children:

Francis Jr. was thirty years old in 1783 when he became Lord of the Manor at Alderwasley after his father died.

Francis Jr. was Lord of the Manor at Alderwasley from 1783 to 1801 until he died at age 47.
