Francis was born about 1714. He married Dorothy Seale in 1755 in Prince William County, VA.

From Joseph Moore: "Francis Stribling inherited the place in Prince William because of the law of primogeniture whereby the eldest son."

Francis bought 200 acres in Moore County, NC in 1766. On 7 Dec., 1770, Francis received a grant of 300 acres also in Moore County, NC. They moved from NC to GA and received a grant of 350 acres in Washington County, GA and another grant of 287 1/2 ac. in Franklin County, GA; in 1790 a grant of 464 ac. in Wilkes County, GA.

Francis was a benefactor in the will of his maternal uncle Robert Taliaferro as a son of Thomas and Elizabeth Stribling.

Francis and Dorothy were the parents of seven children:

1. Elizabeth Seale (Stribling) McLendon 2. Margaret "Peggy" (Stribling) Welborn/Wilborn 3. Clary (Stribling) Collins 4. Thomas Stribling 5. Frances (Stribling) Wells 6. Anthony J. Stribling 7. Taliaferro Stribling

His will was probated on 25 Apr 1796 in Wilkes County, GA.

Georgia In the name of God Amen. I Francis Stribling, Wilkes County, of the County & State afore said do make and bequeath this as my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and Seal this third day of February one thousand seven hundred and ninety Six, Impriness, I lend unto my Loving Wife Dorothy my Negroes Namely Cabo and and (sic) bob, & Milley & Gesey the So aug? of them During her natural life also I leave to my wife Dorothy my negro bet to dispose of at her death as she shall See Cause Likewise I leave all my personal _______during the same time I also leave to my wife Dorothy During her life the plantation I now live on containing four hundred & twenty acres, at her death I leave to my Thomas one hundred & fifth acres of the said tract of Land also to my son Anthony One hundred & fifty acres of the same also to my son Toloforo the balance of the tract where he now lives.

I leave to my daughter Elizabeth McClendon ten shillings of Sterling, also I give and bequeath to my Beloved daughter Clary Collins at the death Of her mother ten Shillings Sterling, I likewise give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Frances Wells and to heirs after my wifes decease my negro and I also give and bequeath to my son Anthony at my wifes Decease My Negro Niley also one bed furniture I leave to my beloved wife Dorothy one Negro Cole to dispose of as She pleases also to my beloved Son Thomas the above Negro Jacob?

My Will is after my just debts debts (sic) is paid what then remains of my personal estate after my wifes decease to be sold & devided among My sons and Peggy Wilbourn lastly I Nominate and appoint my Wife Dorothy and Isaac McClendon and Tolofoia Stribling Executors of this my last will and Testament Revoking and disanuling all former ones heretofore made In witness whereof I hereunto Set and have fixed my hand and Seal this day and Year above .........
