Francis Arnold Winder was born in Sheffield in June QRT 1881 (the 11th and last child of Edmund Winder b. 31st May 1825 Sheffield, Yorkshire, England d. 1901 Sheffield, Yorkshire who married 30th March 1853 St Mary's Church, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, Mary Wrangham b. 1834 Sheffield, Yorkshire).
In 1891 and 1911 he was living in the UK. He earned a Service Medal in the 1914-8 roll.
Francis Arnold Winder married Geraldine M Helena Bingham (b. 20th June 1867, Kilkenny, Ireland d. 25th October 1935) at Chapel-le-Frith 1
in the June QRT 1923. He appears to have authored "Behind the barrage" a work of fiction based on the 1914-1918 World War, and published in 1930 by Duckworth (London)
