About Frank William Jackson
Mr. Jackson was a pioneer of Texas for 54 years; a stockman and farmer of Dallas and Collin counties, and one of the largest landowners. Mr. Jackson passed away at his country home near Renner (defunct, 2011).
Mr. Jackson bought his first 160 acres in Texas after working for his brother, John A. Jackson, for two years, at $12 a month. With this start, including a small her of cattle, he built up his holdings.
He was born in Warren Co., Kentucky, a descendant of the Jackson and Adams families who came to Kentucky in the days of Daniel Boone. He came to Texas in 1873 to visit his older brother, who lived near White Rock Creek, for whom he worked.
Six years after he came to Texas, he married Miss Mary Taylor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Taylor of Dallas, moving into a four-room home he had built on his first 160-acre place.
He was a charter member of the Texas Grain Dealers' Association, first President of the Texas Gunners' Association, built and operated the Renner Roller Mills until they were destroyed by fire, and was President of the Guaranty State Bank of Renner. Both Mr. and Mrs. Jackson were Methodists and regular annual attendants of the White Rock camp meetings.
He is survived by his wife and six children, Mrs. O. T. Mitchell of Renner, Mrs. L. S. McKamy of Dallas, Mrs. Slater Wyatt of Plano, Mrs. George McLendon of Dallas, John A. Jackson of Fort Worth, and Taylor Jackson of Dallas. [Dallas Morning News, 12-13-1927, Pg 13]
