About Frank Sprenger
MOSCOW Frank Sprenger, an 82-year-old retired Genesee farmer and carpenter, died of cancer Thursday September 17, 1992 at Gritman Medical Center at Moscow.
He and his wife, Helen, farmed his family's homestead in the Genesee area for many years.
The son of Joe and Catherine Evitts Sprenger, he was born Sept. 23, 1909, on the family homestead and attended the Thorncreek country school.
He married Helen R. VonTersch Aug. 30, 1939, at Genesee.
In addition to farming, he worked as a carpenter, retiring from that occupation in the early 1970s.
He semi-retired from farming in 1977, but remained involved in farming and ranching until his death.
He enjoyed dancing and gardening and was a member of the Elks Lodge at Lewiston. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and bird hunting.
Survivors include his wife of Genesee; a daughter, Janet Sprute of Lewiston; a son, Stewart Sprenger of Hillsboro, Ore.; a brother, Joe Sprenger Jr. of Genesee; three sisters, Mary Scharnhorst of Genesee, Cecelia Johnson of Spokane and Gertrude Johann of Moscow; and two granddaughters.
Five sisters Katherine Stout, Frances Bruegeman, Sue Ailor and Amelia and Teresa Sprenger died previously.
Rosary will be recited and funeral Mass celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Moscow. The Rev. Joseph Schmidt will be the celebrant.
Burial will follow at the Moscow Cemetery.
