Franklin Edwin Alvord lived in Ohio until he was six years old when he moved with his parents to Ill., where he lived until he was seventeen years of age when he enlisted in 95th Ill. Infantry in the CivilWar. He served three years until the close of the war, when he returned to Ill. A few weeks after his return his parents moved to Taylor Co., lowa, and he accompanied them. Here he lived until
1880 when he moved to Rooks Co., Kan., where he continued to reside until his death. In politics he was a Republican until the formation of the Populist Party, to which he allied himself. He was a farmer by occupation. His widow was living at Palco, Kan, in 1903.
