About Fred Z Salomon, Jr.
Fred Z. Salomon Jr., a former manager of the old Southtown Famous-Barr department store and Frontenac city official, died Sunday (Feb. 27, 2000) at Surrey Place in Chesterfield of complications from injuries he suffered in a fall. He was 83 and a longtime resident of St. Louis County.
Mr. Salomon had worked for more than 25 years for Famous-Barr before he retired in 1955.
Mr. Salomon also worked for the St. Louis County Police Department and was head of the Civil Defense Police. In the 1960s, he was an alderman in Frontenac. A native of St. Louis, he earned a degree in business from St. Louis University.
Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Buchholz Mortuary, 2211 Clarkson Road, Chesterfield. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be private.
Among his survivors are his wife of 42 years, Darlane Salomon; two daughters, Edith Ann Younger of Edgewood, N.M., and Candace Hintz of Defiance; and three grandchildren.
