About Frederick Julian Cooper
Frederick Julian Cooper was born in South Haven, Michigan, December 21, 1884. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Cooper. He departed this life on Sunday morning, January 19, 1919, at 10:20 o'clock, aged 34 years, and one month. The cause of his death was influenza-pneumonia. It was just as the church bells were summoning the people to the House of God, that the bells of eternity were sounding in his soul, and he was "Crossing the Bar," realizing perhaps the beautiful words of the poet:
"Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark;
And may there be no sadness of farewell
When I embark."
At the age of sixteen he removed with his parents from South Haven to Lacota, this state. Sometime after this he removed to Albion, where on June 17, 1915, he was united in marriage to Miss Mabel White, of this city. This union was blessed with one son, Milton Louis, who is now about one year old, and is at present ill with influenza, but hopes are held out for the little one's recovery.
The deceased was a foreman at Union Steel Products company, and had the confidence of all of his associates, and was well liked because of his helpful, friendly and brotherly disposition.
Funeral services were held from his late home on Mingo Street, on Tuesday morning, January 21, at 10:00 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. A.E. Cameron; and also at Riverside cemetery, where members of the Yeoman's lodge, of which the deceased was a member, assisted. A large gathering of brother lodgemen, friends and neighbors, being present for the committal service.
To mourn his departure are, the wife and baby boy, his mother, Mrs. C.C. Cooper, Lacota, two brothers, William E. Cooper, Lacota, and John L. Cooper, Albion; also four sisters, Mrs. Edith M. Barnes, Albion, Mrs. Josephine Thurston, Marengo, and Edna and Winnifred Cooper, of Lacota, and a host of friends. To all of these he was known as a loved and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, and he will long be held by them in loving remembrance.
