My Post Office address is Bolivar, Westmoreland Co. Pa.
Age 28 years. I have no direct interest in the claim of Mrs. Susan Deemer, Widow of Frederick Deemer late Co. F, 50th Regiment Pa. Vol. Infantry, except as a mother. No. 392754. I am a son of claimant. Have lived with my mother until death of soldier after which time I have supported her at my resident gratuitously owing to her not having any means to support herself, either Real or Personal giving her Food and Raiment. I have never heard themselves either soldier or claimant state or any other person state that there was a prior marriage of said couple. And if there had been such an occurrence have every reason to believe I would have known it from some source during my life time up to death of soldier they acknowledged themselves as Husband & Wife and were reputed so by the community wherein they resided. My said mother the claimant has not remarried since death of soldier. Know this fact as she has resided with me ever since soldier's death. Claimant is in destitute circumstances, has no means of support whatever except what I give her. Have to make my living by days work at Laboring work at an average of one dollar & ten cents per day not including lost time. Have a family dependent on me for support. Have never learned or knew of soldier being in the U.S. service since his discharge in Jan. 26th, 1865. Was personally present and dictated the above facts after thoughtful consideration.
